Nolan County is a county located in the west central region of the U.S. state of Texas. Its seat is Sweetwater. The county is named for Philip Nolan, one of the first American traders to visit Texas. Nolan County has established itself as a center for wind power generation. As of July 2008, Nolan County generates more wind energy than the entire state of California, and would rank 6th in wind power generation among all nations if it were counted as its own nation.

More than a great place for business, Sweetwater is a great place to live. Great weather and beautiful scenery help make Sweetwater a desirable locale for people of all ages.

Events occur every weekend at the Nolan County Coliseum from rodeos to rattlesnake roundups. You could visit the statue at Avenger field commemorating the ladies who flew during WWII, or take a walking tour of the places downtown listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You could spend a day at the Pioneer City-County Museum looking at over 800 arrowheads, dinosaur relics, antique automobiles and much more.

In a town complete with parks, golf courses and lakes, recreation is sweet indeed.

When you aren’t celebrating your faith, you might see some of the local wildlife which include the white-tailed deer, mallard duck, raccoon and armadillo. Lake Sweetwater, Lake Trammell, and Oak Creek Lake, the three large area lakes are home to crappie, perch, catfish, Texas-sized bass, striper and redfish. Hunters find deer, turkey, quail, dove and other game in the surrounding areas.
